Common Questions

Why does Apex request location permission?

Apex uses your device location to keep the minimap centered on your current position and display your direction of travel, estimated speed, road shape, map content, and nearby fuel stations.

Location access is central to the App’s functionality.

Does Apex use my location in the background?

Apex is designed to use location while the App is open and in use.

You can review or change Apex’s location permission at any time through iOS Settings.

Can I use Apex without location access?

You may be able to open parts of the App, but the live driving minimap and other location-based features will not work correctly without location access.

Does Apex save my driving history?

Apex does not require an account and does not maintain its own server-side history of your drives.

Mapbox may process location, map-request, device, and telemetry information as described in the Apex Privacy Policy and Mapbox Product Privacy Policy.

Does Apex share my live location with other users?

No. Apex is not designed to let other users view or track your live location.

How do I manage Mapbox telemetry?

Use the Mapbox privacy, attribution, or telemetry control available from the map screen to manage Mapbox telemetry.

You can also disable Apex’s location permission through iOS Settings, although this will prevent the live minimap from functioning correctly.

Is Apex a navigation app?

No. Apex does not provide turn-by-turn navigation.

It is a driving-focused minimap intended to help you see your position and surrounding road shape. Always follow road signs, traffic controls, official directions, and actual road conditions.

Is Apex a safety system?

No. Apex is not a collision-warning system, emergency service, autonomous-driving system, or replacement for your own judgment.

Do not interact with Apex while driving when doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.

Why is the speed different from my vehicle’s speedometer?

Apex estimates speed using device location or motion information. The displayed value may be delayed or inaccurate due to signal quality, device conditions, or environmental factors.

Apex is not a calibrated speedometer. Follow your vehicle’s instruments and posted speed limits.

Why is my position or heading inaccurate?

Accuracy may be affected by:

  • Poor GPS reception
  • Tunnels, buildings, mountains, or trees
  • Device placement
  • Temporary compass interference
  • Weak internet or cellular connectivity
  • iOS location settings

Moving to an open area and confirming that location access is enabled may improve accuracy.

Why is a road or fuel station missing or incorrect?

Apex relies on third-party map information. Roads, businesses, closures, and other map details may be outdated, incomplete, or incorrect.

Do not rely on Apex to determine whether a road is public, open, safe, or legally accessible.

The map is not loading. What should I check?

Confirm that:

  • Your device has an internet connection
  • Location access is enabled for Apex
  • Airplane Mode is disabled
  • Apex and iOS are up to date

If the problem continues, restart Apex and contact support with your device and software details.
